Dogs

Loyal, loving, playful and protective, that is a dog in four letters. By far one of the most beloved animals in the world, dogs are everywhere, in the park, on social media, and in at least one house in the neighborhood. Dogs give people a feeling of being secure & safe because of their protective nature. Caring for them can give people a magical sense of purpose. This especially benefits people who live alone or are old. A study has shown that people with dogs have reduced their anxiety, stress and depression. People are less likely to get psychological disorders when having a dog. Their positive mood and playful instinct will put a smile on anyone’s face. 

Cats

Cats come in a wide range of breeds, with different personalities. There are calm & docile ones, and ones that are playful & energetic. Many studies claim them as a living stress reliever. Their furry bodies, large eyes and fuzzy ears make them appealing for a pet. Cats rely and equally care back at you which can hinder any negative emotions.

Birds

Birds are beautiful, intelligent and curious. Studies have shown that birds can encourage social interaction and slow down depression symptoms. Birds have even been proven to boost the bird’s cognitive functioning! Spending time with a parrot or budgie can stimulate your brain, causing this to happen. Among other things, birds are fascinating creatures, especially parrots, as they can mimic speech precisely.

Fish

Aquariums, with their beautiful fish and colorful plants, have a soothing effect on the brain. Looking at an aquarium can reduce anxiety quickly. Some researchers even found out that people observing aquariums for a long time in routine can make their blood pressure balanced. The relaxing colors and slow swimming of the fish make it easier for people to rest & sleep.

Reptiles

Reptiles give many people a sense of companionship. They can fight against loneliness and isolation, and can stimulate curiosity because of their fascinating behavior and environment. They are very good pets for people with limited mobility because they can live in a terrarium and require only a small amount of maintenance.
