Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. The title is already a lot to take in but let me tell you, the movie is a whole different story. To sum up the entire story, the plot is basically about Dr Strange opening a forbidden portal to, guess what, the Multiverse, which leads to many consequences.

This $200 million major movie production stars Benedict Cumberbatch (Dr Strange), Elizabeth Olsen (Wanda), Benedict Wong (Wong), Xochitl Gomez (America Chavez), Rachel McAdams (Christine Palmer) and was released May 4th 2022. But if you don't feel like going to the cinema, the movie will be coming to Disney + on July 8th.

On the left Xochitl Gomez (America Chavez), in the middle Benedict Wong (Wong) and on the right Benedict Cumberbatch (Dr Strange).

I wanted to write about something current, so there's nothing better than writing a review about an exciting movie. In case you are worried and haven't seen Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, don't worry, there won't be any spoilers.

Marvel movies are known for their epic fight scenes — from Black Widow to Doctor Strange. And if you've seen some of their movies/series, you probably know it gets a bit bloody sometimes. Even though all Marvel movies are rated PG-13, the director of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (Sam Raimi) always finds a way to add some extra horror to the plot, including zombies and witchcraft. I'm not saying you will be completely traumatized by this movie, you won't be, but if you already find the other films a bit extreme, I wouldn't recommend watching this movie.

Besides the extra terror, many critics have said that the plot might be confusing without a bit of background information. As I am pretty new to Marvel, I haven't seen much of their work, but a few months ago, I watched WandaVision, which definitely gave me a bit more understanding of what was happening. For example, without any idea of what's going on, you might be wondering: Westview? Multiverse? Now, in my opinion, the plot wasn't that hard to understand. Still, if you really want to understand the movie, here are some movies/series to watch before.

  • "Doctor Strange"

  • "WandaVision"

  • "Spider-Man: No Way Home"

  • "Captain America: The First Avenger"

  • "What If…"

As that is a pretty long list, and I have already watched the movie, I can guarantee you, you'll be fine.

To sum everything up, I think this movie is perfectly fine for middle schoolers unless you know that you can't handle some horror. If you want to be prepared for watching Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, go watch the movies/series listed above. The newest Marvel movie definitely gave us space to imagine what will happen next as there is probably going to be a sequel…
